Handmade Cards

I have taken up making handmade cards again... I used to do it alot before I had the children and after spending some time with my talented sister in law in Oz I am reinspired!  Here are some of my recent designs!

My finished patchwork cushion!

Here is the finished cushion!  Am very pleased with it.  It now has pride of place on the sofa and the children are not allowed to sit on it!  The next step is to start a small patchwork quilt.  There is a patchwork class not far from me which I might sign up to... to learn the correct technique.

Nearing the end of my patchwork cushion

I've been trying my hand at a little patchwork.  The long term goal is that I would like to create a full size quilt for my daughters bedroom for when she is older.  I would like it to be big enough for a single bed and it will incorporate fabrics from some of my favourite items of her baby clothes... so it will be special and therefore I dont want to mess it up.

So... I'm practicing by making a patchwork cushion as a first project with some spare fabrics.  It's inspired from my 'Kirstie's Homemade Home' book by Kirstie Allsopp.  I'm really pretty pleased with it except for the fact that I would have finished it by now if it wasnt for the fact I got carried away and wasn't concentrating...  I sewed the back onto the front with the wrong side up... so I've had to unpick it all... grrrr!!!  Well hopefully that is a lesson learnt!

Welcome

Welcome to my new project!  A blog focusing solely on my craft projects, using both my old skills and those that I will be learning along the way.  I'm never happy if I'm not painting, building or creating something new and have finally realised that!  There are so many new crafts that I want to try my hand at, and I have no idea which ones I will be any good at!  This blog is a personal diary of my creations and I'm sure there'll be a few disasters too....!
